Workshop on Waqf Institution Management Based on the Waqf Core Principles (WCP)

On 4 November 2024, the Postgraduate School of UIKA Bogor held an International Workshop on Waqf Management based on the Waqf Core Principles (WCP). The session was delivered by H. Hendri Tanjung, Ph.D, Deputy Director I of Academic Affairs, Innovation, and Student Development, with Hj. Qurroh Ayuniyyah, SE, M.Ec, Ph.D serving as the moderator.

Opening remarks were presented by Prof. Dr. H.E. Mujahidin, M.Si, Rector of UIKA Bogor, and Prof. Dr. KH. Didin Hafidhuddin, M.S., Director of the Postgraduate School of UIKA Bogor.

Honoured guests from Malaysia, including Datuk Dr. Mohd Ghazali Md. Noor, Secretary-General of the World Zakat and Waqf Forum (WZWF), along with his team, were also present and participated in officiating the event.

The program also served as a moment of reunion between Prof. Dr. KH. Didin Hafidhuddin, M.S., the first Secretary-General of the World Zakat and Waqf Forum, and the current Secretary-General, Datuk Dr. Mohd Ghazali Md. Noor.

In their remarks, Prof. Dr. KH. Didin Hafidhuddin, M.S., Prof. Dr. H.E. Mujahidin, M.Si, and Datuk Dr. Mohd Ghazali Md. Noor collectively emphasized the importance of zakat and waqf in national development, community welfare, economic empowerment, and building a self-sustaining society.

During his presentation, H. Hendri Tanjung, Ph.D highlighted key components of the Waqf Core Principles, including legal foundations, waqf supervision, good waqf governance, risk management, and Shariah governance — each of which was explained in detail.

Participants included representatives from various important institutions such as BAZMA Pertamina, Rumah Wakaf, Yakfina Wakaf Centre, Masjid Muslim Billionaire, IIUM Bank Indonesia, iWakaf, Sahabat Wakaf, IIUM, BKSPPI UIKA, and others.

It is hoped that through this program, zakat and waqf will continue to serve as foundations of sustainable transformation. With strategic steps outlined in this workshop’s resolutions, we aspire to build a more inclusive and just world, with waqf as a key driver of progress.

Held at the Multipurpose Hall of the Postgraduate School of UIKA Bogor, the event took place from 9.00 AM to 12.00 PM (WIB).
